A new report has some prominent Scientists woried. They are warning that males are in real danger from manmade pollutants that have been released into the environment. These Chemicals mimic the female hormone estrogen, and are already having a negative effect on insects and wild animals.
Researchers say that a shocking number of fish, amphibians, birds, and reptiles have been feminized from being exposed to the hormone. The report says that chemicals found in food packaging, cleaning products, plastics, and other man made products are causing reduced sperm counts and feminine males. Some male roaches have actually changed sex completely after being exposed to estrogen from the Contraceptive pills that are polluting our waterways.
The scientists say that the earth might be in real trouble. They point out, “If wildlife populations crash, it will be too late. Unless enough males contribute to the next generation there is a real threat to animal populations in the long term.”
