Corruption In the FDA
What does the FDA have against Stevia

"Big business runs the FDA"

While FDA allows one unsafe artificial sweetener after another into the market, citizens in countries have known about stevia for years.  Know this article is not to promote the use of stevia. It is meant to show the corruption and the influence of big business at the FDA. The South American herb called Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni -- commonly known as stevia, is estimated to be some 150 to 400 times sweeter than sugar.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration since the has labeled stevia an "unsafe food additive" and gone to extensive lengths to keep it off the U.S. market. They have even initiated a search-and-seizure campaign and full-fledged "import alert."

The FDA goes nuts when it thinks a company is selling stevia. They have went so far as to make a company destroy cookbooks mentioning the use of stevia as a sweetener.

From the extensive measures the FDA has used to keep Americans in the dark about stevia, you might assume it was some type of dangerous narcotic.  But, in fact, no ill effects have ever been attributed to it. even though it has been used in some locales for hundreds of years.

In one more sign of corruption The FDA has ruled , that even though stevia can now be legally marketed as a dietary supplement under legislation enacted in 1994, any mention of its possible use as a sweetener or tea is still strictly prohibited.

How Crazy is that? They allow aspartame to be sold and advertised all over the place as this miracle alternative to sugar, yet the stuff will give you cancer or kill you. What a joke!

Do you think this has been done to benefit the politically powerful sweetener industry -- the agency has insisted on stonewalling any and all evidence to the contrary.  Just a theory but I would bet it to be the case.

Well at least we can all use are nutrasweet or sweet and low and die of cancer now!

What deos the FDA have against Stevia?
