What is Lamisil used for?

Lamisil is used for the treatment of onychomycosis, or nail fungus.


Why was Lamisil Recalled (or why should it) ?

The FDA issued a health advisory warning physicians about the link between Lamisil and hepatic adverse events. The Lamisil risks include liver failure that can lead to death or liver transplant.

As of april 2001, the FDA received 16 reports of liver failure cases in Lamisil patients. In addition, prescribing errors have occurred instead of prescribing Lamisil patients have received Lamictal, an anti-epileptic.

What Makes Lamisil a dangerous Drug ( side effects): 

  • Liver failure
  • Liver trasplant or death
