| What is Thimerosal used for?
Thimerosal is used as a preservative in vaccines.
Why was Thimerosal Recalled (or why should it be) ?
Thimerosal has been linked to autism, as well as, other neurodevelopmental disorders in children. The reason that thimerosal carries risk of serious adverse effects is because it contains mercury, which can be neurotoxic at certain levels. Mercury is the second most toxic substance known to man. The use of thimerosal in vaccines began in the 1930s.
Autism was diagnosed in only 1 in 10,000 children before 1980. In 2002, the NIH reported autism then affected 1 in 250 children. In May 2003, the Committee on Government Reform reported on its three-year investigation concluding, "there's no question that mercury does not belong in vaccines."
The drug companies would like us to believe that mercury used in vaccines occurs in "trace amounts" so symptoms including mental retardation, deafness and death aren't applicable. But kids adhering to the pediatric vaccine schedule in the 1990s were often exposed to upwards of 100 times the EPA adult exposure guidelines in one office visit, with more exposures occurring throughout infancy.
What Makes Thimerosal a dangerous Drug ( side effects and risks):
- Levels of mercury
- Neurodevelopmental disorders
- Risk of Autism
