Is Serevent dangerous?

The active ingredient seems to be causing asthma attacks in some patients. In 2003,Serevent began carrying a warning label regarding the results of a large U.S. study that indicates a small but significant increase in asthma-related deaths in patients using Serevent.

The SMART study, conducted by GlaxoSmithKline was stopped by the FDA after several death cases were caused by Serevent use. Thirty six patients died during this clinical trial from serious respiratory problems.
