More Americans on Statins that don’t work

A recent drug company sponsored trial is showing that Crestor might reduce heart attack and stroke inĀ  people who have elevated levels of an inflammatory marker called C-reactive protein. The problems with the findings is most drug company sponsored trials are notoriously biased in favor of the prescriptions maker.

In my opinion, the scariest part of the study is what the drug companies will do with it. There is bound to be a spike in the amount of Statin prescriptions given to people who may not even need them. In fact, experts can’t even agree on whether lowering cholesterol has a benefit to the heart. And if it does, there may be natural methods of lowering your cholesterol that work much better.
