Obesity is a huge problem and it is effecting more kids than ever. Since 1977 the portion sizes at fast food restaurants have dramatically increased. In fact, the average hamburger has 97 more calories than it did 30 years ago.

Obesity can set your child up for a life time of health problems, including heart disease, diabetes and back problems.

How bad is the obesity problem with kids?

  • 1/3 of American kids are physical unfit.
  • The average kid spends 4-5 hours a day watching T.V and sitting at a computer.
  • 30% of kids and teens can not pace a standard fitness test.

So what can you do to help your child lose weight

  • Use smaller cups and plates -  your child will feel like he or she is eating a full meal without feeling  deprived.
  • Eat together as a family. Families that eat together have half the weight problems of those that don’t.
  • Get rid of the Sugar
  • Stop Drinking Juice. Juices have a lot of extra calories and sugar that your body doesn’t need.
  • Switch to Water - Start drinking water instead of soda, juice or flavored drinks.
  • Get up and get out. Go to the park, go skating, throw a ball around. Anything you can do to get your heart rate up will help you lose weight.
  • Walk - Walking is the safest and easiest way to lose weight.
